Located between the Eagle Cap Wilderness area to the north and the Elkhorn Mountains to the south you will find our small community, welcome to North Powder Oregon in the center of the beautiful scenic Powder Valley.
With a average population of approximately 450 residents
our community works hard toward a vibrant,
self-sufficient and safe community
that
prides itself
on
a rich
history and
small town quality
of
life.
Located on I-84 20 miles west of Baker City and 21
miles east of La Grande our
location offers a vast variety of interests such as
we are one of just a few towns in Oregon that the Old Oregon Trail still
passes through a main street within the city. The area surrounding our town
offers an abundance of outdoor activities. If your into camping and
hiking in the mountains, we got it, drive 10 miles and your in the mountains.
If your a hunter we have deer , elk and birds. Want to fish, how about
several rivers, several lakes and reservoirs. Want to ski or snow board,
we have that as well just a few miles up the mountain at Anthony Lakes ski
area. Want
to walk through the meadows and step in cow pies, got ya covered. Want to
surf the big waves....well ok we are short on that but you get the point.
As with most small towns one of the community pride's is the local school.
with classes k through 12 the local school is a center of activity. Besides
it's academic achievements it also boasts many championship sport teams over
the years both in boy and girle sports. Welcome to Badger Country
